When you’re coming up with ideas to redecorate your space, we tend to look for things online before we look at what we already have. Sometimes the best inspiration can come from your closet. Take a look inside and see what kind of themes you can see – you can easily translate them into design ideas!Read More »

Wardrobe Goals
It took me such a long time to pull this post together that I’ve ended up posting it a day late! When it comes to defining what I want my future wardrobe to look like, I always have so much trouble. My personal style swings on a huge spectrum depending on my mood: sometimes I want something soft and girly, sometimes I want a more edgy feel. I tried to gather pieces that showcase styles I love the most, so I can put it all in one post and use it as a guideline for future shopping!Read More »
Winter Fashion Inspiration 2016
It’s getting cooler here in New Zealand, and I’m so excited for all the winter fashion. I love summer, but winter is my favourite month for fashion. I have winter and autumn posts from last year, but I felt like I needed to write something new – I feel like my tastes have refined and become a lot more simple.Read More »
Spring & Summer Fashion Inspiration
Okay, I know it’s the last month of spring, but I tend to just toss my warmer weather clothing into one category. Spring in New Zealand is usually rainy, with lots of cold wind. Lately, we’ve been having some incredibly sunny days with light breezes, and I’ve been keeping my clothing fairly light with a cardigan on top. For summer, I definitely need to pick up a few sundresses and other light items – jeans are not my friend when it comes to hot sunshine! Today I’m sharing some of my favourite spring and summer looks.
Glamour with an Edge
If I was honest with myself about my true clothing tastes, I’d admit that I definitely love to mix glam and edgy together on a constant basis. I always feel like there’s something missing if there isn’t a touch of the rough in with all my soft girly items. Edgy glam is my fashion style and my personality, but I tend to be hesitant about actually applying it. I try to stick to more acceptable and traditional clothing, because that’s how I tend to come across. I do want to be a more sophisticated and glamorous person – but you’ll never catch me without something leather or studded in my closet.
Aspiring Fashion Designer Teen Bedroom Project
When a friend asked me to come up with some ideas for her daughter, I jumped at the chance. Victoria* is a real girly girl; she loves fashion, music, and hanging out with her friends. Her room hadn’t really been redecorated in a while, and she felt like it was a bit baby-ish now that she was growing up. Together, Victoria and I came up with some really cool ideas for her bedroom and she’s really excited to get started doing the work. I wasn’t given permission to share photos on the blog due to privacy concerns, but I am sharing all our inspiration images and the furnishings we picked out.
Interior Designer Fashion: Work-Appropriate Outfits and Ideas
One of the best things about working in a creative industry is the outfit options. You can stay in your pyjamas all day, get dressed up nice and professional, or throw on something that reminds you of Professor Trelawney. I’m more of the PJs kind of person – I like to sleep in a tshirt and cotton running shorts, so it’s easily adaptable for a day around home. When I do feel like getting properly dressed, or dressing up, I aim for something a little more business-y. I love pairing corporate staples with fun and feminine items. My options are so varied that I never really have to worry! The only thing that’s important is good field wear, which usually will consist of a t-shirt, jeans, and a pair of work boots or gumboots.
Winter Fashion Inspiration
The colder weather is finally setting in, and with it has come a longing for cute winter clothes. My typical cold-weather uniform is a big hoodie and jeans, but sometimes you just need to sigh over nice outfits on Pinterest. Luckily it doesn’t snow where I am, but it does on top of the nearby mountains which means it can get pretty cold. Just like in Autumn, I’ve picked some adorable winter outfits to inspire me to dress up for the cold season!
Fall fashion inspiration
When you live on opposite seasons from most of the world, you get to pick and choose from the best of the seasons trends without having to go for the tragic and terrible ones. Our New Zealand summer is still dragging on, and it’s still mostly shorts weather here, so I put together a collection of fall outfit inspirations to get me in a more cozy mood.
Adding a simple lightweight hoodie will keep you warm. Leopard print heels add a touch of finesse to a casual look! Unknown image source.
This dress brings a gorgeous pop of color to a month where everything is starting to get cloudy. You’ll coordinate with the beautiful browns and golds of the leaves. Another fur vest (an item I adore) and a floppy wide brim hat completes this simple but eyecatching look. Image via: Heartswoon, but items currently unavailable.
Thigh highs are perfect if you’re not really a tights girl. They keep you warm without covering up everything, which helps save you from the awkward pull-your-tights-up dance! A dusky orange scarf and leather gloves look simple and elegant with this outfit, and help pull together a classic and cozy look. Unknown image source.
Is there anything better than the combo of a leather jacket and a feminine outfit? This look, matched with a soft scarf, tights, and ankle boots, is absolutely perfect for Autumn. It gives you a bit of edge, but with the option of removing layers if you get too warm. Image via: Stylekick
Another version of the previous image, but paired with feminine florals and knee high boots for a girly and practical outfit. Image via: Kenza Zouiteng
I hope you enjoyed these looks and are as excited about colder weather as I am! Sweater seasons are definitely my favourite. Remember to keep warm, and wear practical shoes!
Love, Vanessa.
