If I had an attic, I’d probably turn it into extra closet space. So many homes feature excellent attic space, and yet they remain unfinished and dusty. And even if your attic space is finished, there’s a chance that it’s been piled with old and broken items and you’re scared to go in incase something falls on you. It’s time to change the way your attic works for you, and here are 25 images to inspire you into crafting a space worthy of being on top.
When you’re planning on renovating an attic, there are a few things you should consider. Can you access the space easily? Are the ceilings high enough for adults to walk around comfortably? Is there access to plumbing and electrical work? What do you plan on using the space for? How will you clean it? Will you be needing to make any structural changes (such as adding skylights or removing walls)?
All of these things can affect how you use the space. Low ceiling heights might make a perfect childs play space or bedroom. Sharp slopes might be good for adding reading nooks or nicer storage. Larger spaces can be made into additional living areas, master suites, offices or art studios, and even private apartments for college-aged children or boarders.
